Technical Session - 5 pm (optional) - Controlling Stray Currents Induced by VFDs, by Ken Wegrzyn of Aegis.

 Technical Session Highlights:

Ken Wegrzyn will discuss the often overlooked side effects of using VFDs, including the importance of grounding fan and pump shafts to control stray currents, and tips to utilize VFDs effectively. Installing contractors and specifying engineers will both be interested in attending.

 

 

Main Presentation Highlights:

Royce Meili will discuss the application of VFDs in HVAC systems. This includes VFD functions particularly useful in HVAC, configurations to consider, fan arrays, overspeeding direct drive fans in equipment selections. He will also further build upon the material introduced in the technical session. Specifying and applications contractors and engineers will be particularly interested in attending.

 Ken Wegrzyn

  Regional Sales Manager, Electro Static Technology - Aegis

 

Ken Wegrzyn graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology with a Mechanical Engineering Degree, and from DePaul University with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.

He has been with Electrostatic Technology for 9 years as Regional Sales Manager and National Account Manager, solving problems in facilities with AEGIS® bearing protection rings.

After living in Wisconsin, he and his wife currently reside in Northern Illinois, and have three children and two grandchildren.

He enjoys bicycle riding, especially in the beautiful Wisconsin countryside.

 Royce Meili 

 Trane CSO National Account Manager - Danfoss

Royce Meili has worked for Danfoss Drives for over six years, providing pre-sales support to the Trane Commercial Sales offices, for Trane Drives.

He is a US Army Veteran, a graduate of a vocational trade school for HVAC and holds a MET degree from Wichita State University. He is also LEED-AP Certified.

Royce’s experience with air conditioning started by helping his Dad service and install window air conditioners, in a small farm town in Kansas. After graduating from WSU, he has worked in mechanical contracting for 10 years, Johnson Controls, as an account executive for 10 years and Trane in Wichita, KS, managing the controls group, before coming to Danfoss. He has been involved in developing and selling performance contracting and energy retrofit projects where applying variable frequency drives was a key part of the projects.

Royce and his wife Debbie of 38 years, have a horse ranch outside of Wichita, KS, They have two daughters, three grandchildren, two quarter horses, two dogs and a barn full of cats. He enjoys horseback rides with his wife, restoring their old barn and riding the go-cart with his grands.
