Past President

I first joined ASHRAE as a student member at UW Madison back in 2002.  I began attending local Madison chapter meetings when I could and always learned some valuable knowledge at those meetings.  Later in college, I worked to re-establish the UW Madison student chapter.  We held a couple of chapter meetings and had speakers come in from our local Madison ASHRAE chapter to be the presenters.

After graduating from UW Madison, I became a regular member of the Madison ASHRAE chapter.  A couple of years later I decided to get more involved and volunteered for a Committee Chair position. I became the Membership Promotion (MP) Chair and held that role for (6) years.  MP is a fantastic position and is a great way to meet all chapter members and introduce and reach out to new members and student members.

Eventually I started on the Board of Governors and made my way thru the various roles including Chapter President.  I really enjoy the networking aspect of ASHRAE and am amazed at how many people we have in our local Madison chapter that serve on Technical Committees at the Society level.  We have a great group of people in our local chapter and a wealth of knowledge.  As a young engineer, this is a valuable resource that can be used to your advantage throughout your career.

I truly believe everyone in the HVAC industry should join their local ASHRAE chapter.  By becoming a volunteer, you will learn much more about the inner workings of ASHRAE society and can begin to network with other industry professionals in our region.  So I encourage you to become a part of ASHRAE and to get involved in your local chapter!

Chapter President 2016-17
