Technical Session Highlights:

Tom Peterson will cover Psychrometrics. This is intended to be a session geared towared students and entry level professionals but will serve as a great refresher for more seasoned members. Focus will be on the basic understanding of vapor pressure, dewpoint, and grains of moisture.  

Main Presentation Highlights:

Tom Peterson will cover Desiccant Dehumidification. This session will be a more in depth discussion of the application of desiccants to dehumidification. Industry "rules of thumb" will be reviewed and the bases for them discussed. The mechanics behind the adsorbing and absorbing of moisture, factors that affect performance, and industry leading energy saving possibilities will be discussed.  


Tom Peterson

CDI - President


Tom is a native Minnesotan, born and raised in Owatonna to a farming family. He attended the University of Wisconsin – Stout where he studied Industrial Technology.


Tom has served on the Owatonna Business Incubator Board, Minnesota Technology, Inc. Board of Directors and is currently serving on the Engineering Board of Oral Roberts University. 

Tom has more than 30 years of experience in the HVAC industry. In 1989, Tom and his wife Sue started Concepts and Designs (CAD) in their home as a Computer Aided Drafting company. In 1991, the business was incorporated as Concepts and Designs, Inc. (CDI). In 2016, the business changed their name to Climate by Design International, Inc. CDI is a manufacturing company supplying Desiccant Dehumidification air handlers and Critical Process air handlers in commercial and industrial markets. It is CDI’s mission to create the climate our customer needs to achieve their critical mission. 

Tom is the lead instructor for CDI’s Educational Institute where he has led 200+ webinars on Psychrometrics, Principles of Desiccant Dehumidification, and various applications including Hospital Surgical Suite, 45° Food Processing, Archival Storage and many others. He also facilitates online lunch-n-learns, has been a guest on the HVAC School Podcast and is available for speaking opportunities.
