April 2017

President’s Message

Spring is here!  And with that comes Spring Break.  I hope everyone is able to enjoy some time away from the office and spend time with your families.

The theme for our April chapter meeting is Young Engineers in ASHRAE (YEA).   Our YEA chair, Paul Schack, has a great social event planned at Yahara Bay Distillery.  Chapter members age 35 and younger are encouraged to attend.  Sounds like a great time!  See the YEA section of the newsletter for additional details.

Our April chapter meeting has had some organizational challenges, so be advised for future updates.

Nominations: We are preparing to nominate new chapter board members. Contact Matt Heil,, Nominating Committee Chair, if you have interest or want to nominate someone for a position.

Chapter Regional Conference (CRC): The next regional conference will be held in St. Louis, MO from April 20-22.  Make sure to block out some time to attend this event.  This is a great opportunity to learn and network with other engineers within our region.

I look forward to seeing you all at the next chapter meeting.

Welcome Party

The Welcome Party is Thursday April 20th, Old Courthouse rotunda. The Old Courthouse was completed in 1828, just 7 years after Missouri became a state. The cast iron copper clad dome was added in 1861, modeled after the one at St. Peters Basilica in Rome. The Old Courthouse remains a fixture and symbol of downtown St. Louis. This is where slave auctions were held until 1861. It is where Dred Scott sued for his freedom. And in the rotunda of this building the St. Louis Chapter of ASHRAE will celebrate its 100th anniversary with a welcome party for CRC-2017.
