President’s Message

Greetings ASHRAE Madison Chapter!

This is my last president’s message to you fine members of the chapter for the year and my Chapter Presidential Term.  It’s been an honor to serve and I’m excited for Amanda to lead the chapter next year.  One of the most important things I reflect on is the power of volunteers, and how the help of those on the BOG and the Committee Chairs is the real force behind our chapter’s success.  So thank you!

I also want to Thank Tim Wentz who spoke to our chapter about the future of our industry, and for being a consummate road warrior presenting to not only use by to the Green Day chapter earlier that Day.

For next month we Welcome Randy Dahman for a code update, focusing on our HVAC related code items.  With the recent adoption of the 2021 I-codes by WI, it feel very timely to have Randy come and speak to us.

I want to remind everyone; our Spring “Bring-a-Guest” promotion is still in full force.  For our Membership Promotion Night – members are encouraged to bring a coworker or colleague… anyone who would benefit from involvement in ASHRAE!  As an added incentive, both the member and their guest will receive a $10 gift card to either Starbucks or Smoothie King!  Limit one gift card per person, first come, first served.

Lastly, but not least, I want to renew my call to you to Volunteer.  Having Served the chapter for 10 years now, I can honestly say the benefits to person and career are in some ways immeasurable.   Hope to see you out there!

Hoping to see you at the meeting this Month.

DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion)

ASHRAE Madison hosted a booth at the UW-Madison Engineering Expo on April 17th and 18th!  Thank you to all of our volunteers who showed up to inspire the next generation of engineers, including our Student Volunteers!  This year, we used the Stirling Heat Engine to demonstrate how thermal energy can be used to create work.  Speaking for those that volunteered, it was a lot of fun!  It's exciting to see kids think and reason to make sense of the world around them.
